Our Beautiful New Home!

Greetings from Maine!
I arrived on time Friday afternoon. I wish I could say the same for my bag. It went to Oklahoma City before arriving in Portland at 10:00PM Friday night.

I am going to make this brief, as it is late and I need to get some sleep! It has been a hectic day and a half. I have been running around buying clothes and various other things for my Vietnam trip. However, I am also pleased to say that I am all packed! My cousin, Mark, is coming through Portland area after spending a week at his camp. So, he and his family are picking me up tomorrow around noontime. We will go to their home in Worcester and then on Tuesday, head to Vietnam! It is all very, very exciting.

So, Wes picked me up at the airport and brought me home….OH MY GOSH!!! I thought I was on “While You Were Out” as I walked through the front door. He has done so much work on the house since we left. It looks AMAZING!!! Let’s see…upstairs, he put in a new floor and painted the woodwork and vanity in the bathroom. In the upstairs hallway, he had a wood floor installed, painted the walls and the woodwork. All through the house, he has painted the closet and room doors. In the hallway and living room, he painted the ceiling, woodwork and walls. He pulled up the carpet in all the downstairs rooms and had the hardwood floors refinished. In the dining room, he pulled off the wall paper. Before they finished the floors, he took down all the curtains to prevent them from getting too dusty. I actually love the windows without curtains. I feel as though I am in a farmhouse in the country….I just love the house and can’t wait to come home again to see the improvements that he will continue to make.

The garage still has a few things to get finished before it is 100% complete. They just put the floor in the mudroom down Friday and there are a couple of other things that need to be done in that room. It is coming along nicely and I am pleased with it.

So, that is the update for now. Please check out my pictures at my webshots page to see the house. I don’t know when or if I will blog again before or during the Vietnam trip, but be certain that I will tell you all about it as soon as I can.

Thanks a bunch, Wes!
