10K and the Opera

Just a quick update. June 21 was David’s 51st birthday. We were going to celebrate by going to a Kite Festival in Swift Current, three hours from here. It was a cloudy day here in Saskatoon, but we headed out anyway. We drove for about an hour and half and it kept getting darker and darker. Finally, when the rain came, we turned around and headed back to Saskatoon. So, it was a three hour ride to nowhere!

It just poured for the whole day. We ended up watching the movie Grand Torino with Clint Eastwood. I didn’t really enjoy the movie…too sad. Give me a chick flick any day. Light, easy, entertaining and everyone lives happily ever after! Can’t complain about the rain as the farmers really needed it.

I bought David an Ipod Shuffle for his birthday. We uploaded the songs on Apple but can’t quite figure out how to download/upload (?)the songs onto the shuffle. This is one time I wish I had a teen-ager! I am so technologically challenged! It is so frustrating.

A couple of Sundays ago, I ran/walked the 10K Bridge City Boogie here in Saskatoon. I finished in 1 hour and 8 minutes. The only other timed 10K I ran was the Beach to Beacon in 2001. I did that in 1 hour and 5 minutes. So, I haven’t lost too much time! Planning on doing a half-marathon on August 16th.

On Saturday, I ushered at the Opera La Boheme with my new friend, Don. Don and I met at Spanish class. The opera was amazing. I was very impressed with the talent. Their performance truly bought tears to my eyes. After, Don, two other friend of his and I met David for a nice dinner.

We will be moving to a new condo in this building at the end of the month. It is one floor up, so a relatively easy move.

Spanish and guitar lessons are still ongoing. I don’t see much improvement, but keep plugging away. David and I continue to workout at the YWCA, which is around the corner from where we live. I can now do 15 military-style push-ups. I love to see progress like that. Wish the scales would budge….DOWN! Oh well, I am grateful for my health.

OK, that is a quick update. Happy Summer….
